Fun Fact: Did you know Norway has a Seed Vault for the Apocalypse?

In 2008 Norway officially opened their "Doomsday Seed Vault" which houses millions of variations of the worlds seeds being preserved in case of a catastrophic disaster where the earth would need to essentially be re-statrted.....creepy!

In Norway, Government funded projects that exceed a certain amount are required to include art work. Dyveke Sanne, the artist behind the structures art work, was inspired by the arctic light and wanted the piece to represent the importance of light in the growth of plants.

In 2009, the Seed Vault won the Norwegian Lighting Prize for best outdoor lighting and was also ranked #6 on the Time's Best Inventions of 2008. Pretty Impressive!

Guess you really do learn something new everyday! I have been living in Oslo for over 3 months now and have not heard one mention of this place....i guess somehow the conversation of the world ending just doesn't come up as often as you would think....go figure!
